Jonathan Halverson

November 15, 1964 — August 13, 2017

Stoughton - Jonathan J. Halverson, age 52, passed away from an accident on August 13, 2017. He was born on November 15, 1964 in Madison, WI to Jim and Sharon (Midthun) Halverson. Jon graduated from Stoughton High School in 1983. In 1991, Jon attended Utica Fest, and fell in love at first sight. He married the love of his life, Rachael Reese, on April 24, 1993 in Stoughton, WI.

Jon was a very loving father to his son Ben, 22, and daughter Bailie, 18. He enjoyed attending truck pulls with Ben over the years, but recently stood as a proud father on the sidelines as Ben participated in the local pulls with his truck. Jon adored his princess, Bailie, especially when he could watch her compete on the Stoughton golf team and spend time just hanging out and chatting. He was never without his best friend, Rachael, and they spent numerous hours at Jon's shop, traveling and creating special memories together. He cherished time with his family and friends at the cabin up North, making time for countless weekends of snowmobiling, boating, and cruising in his 1967 Ford Fairlane. He loved Ranger rides and hanging out with his best pal, goldendoodle Finley. Jon was especially fond of family gatherings and his mom's home cooking, most notably her roasted chicken.

Jon's generosity was known by all who knew him. He was a huge supporter of local festivals and events -- donating time, materials and equipment. He enjoyed socializing with his family, friends and employees at various festivals and at truck and tractor pulls throughout the year.

Jon started working in the family business of Jim Halverson Trucking at the age of 16. He went on to build several successful businesses including: Jon Halverson Trucking Inc., Halverson Logistics Inc., Forever Sandfill and Limestone Inc., J&R Halverson Farms LLC, Albion Self Storage LLC, and JHTI Shop LLC. Jon was a strong advocate for his employees and owner-operators. He took great pride in keeping his staff engaged and going above and beyond to help them be successful. Jon's leadership built a great team of long-term employees that, more importantly, were his friends.

Jon is survived by his loving wife Rachael; children Ben and Bailie; parents Jim and Sharon Halverson; brothers and sisters, Jodi (Rocky) Baumer, of Evansville, Jeffrey Halverson, of Stoughton, Julie Matson, of Stoughton, Joel Halverson, of Stoughton, Jenny (Todd) Hanson, of Oregon, Jay (Brenda) Halverson, Stoughton; In-laws Beverly Kennedy and Robert Paus, of Lake Mills; sister-in-law Carie (Doug) Nelson, of Cambridge, and Bridget Reese, of Lake Mills. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
