POYNETTE - John Anthony Weitzel, age 62, passed away peacefully and went with the angels to his heavenly home on April 7th, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.
He was born June 18, 1949 to Ardith and Raymond Weitzel, Jr. . He graduated with honors from Waunakee High School in 1965. He received a scholarship and attended U.W. Stevens Point where he received his B.A. in business. He spent 2 yrs in the Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was an accomplished tennis player, loved the freedom of the outdoors and his kitty Tiger. John was a loving son and brother who will be sorely missed, but fond memories of him will live on in all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by 6 siblings. Judith Weitzel, Christine Trotter, James (Judy) Weitzel, Raymond (Judy) Weitzel, Debra (Charles) Washa and Roxana (Darrell) Calkins and 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ardith (Huerth) Weitzel and Raymond Weitzel, Jr., and stepmother Iona (Wheelock) Weitzel.
A private burial service for the immediate family was held at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Baraboo, WI. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Community Living Center at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in John's name.
