John Teisberg

September 1, 1933 — September 12, 2016

John Alfred Teisberg, 83, of Edgerton, WI; McFarland, WI; and Sun City, AZ; passed away comfortably, freed from this world, to be with his Lord and loved ones early in the morning of September 12, 2016. John was born on September 01, 1933 to parents Alfred and Elizabeth nee Anderson Teisberg.

Johnny, as he was called in his youth, grew up in Edgerton with his beloved Cappy, a stray dog he convinced Mother to let him keep, as long as he took responsibility! This was just the beginning of a life overseeing and stewarding things in his charge, be it family, vocation or other responsibilities. He graduated from Edgerton High School in 1951 after enjoying many an hour honing his baseball and football skills for his team, the Crimson Tide. It was in his high school years that he met his future wife of 58 years, Irene, who hailed from nearby Fort Atkinson. John always loved his cars and many a mile was put on his '26 Packard Terraplane along highway 106 between Edgerton and Fort.

After high school and by the light of the moon John came along with those who become Badgers ...he attended the University of Wisconsin. After two years of study, John was called into duty for his country serving as a company clerk in the army. If you knew John, he's no Radar O'Reilly, but was always clever in finding a way to get things done. He spoke highly of the discipline instilled in him as a young man called into service of things much larger than yourself.

After discharge from the Army, John married Irene in 1956, a union that stood until Irene's passing in February of 2015. Two sons were born of this marriage, Jay and Jim. They were blessed to have been afforded a wonderful upbringing that was common in small town Wisconsin during the 60's and 70's. Most importantly, they were given the legacy of grace and strong faith from God and through their wonderful parents... gifts of infinite value not to be repaid, but shared.

John met a fellow named "Anchor Al" Steinhauer in 1957 and soon began a 40-year career working for Anchor Savings & Loan. Anchor was a real success story over the next three decades because of the prudent, steady and dedicated community focus of Mr. Steinhauer and his leadership team. Dad was always proud of his service to Anchor and all the people he worked with as Vice President of Savings and Administration.

John and Irene retired to Sun City, AZ in 1998, a destination they long waited to call home. They met many new friends and neighbors there through church, rec centers, Sons of Norway, etc. It was also a place where many of their longtime Wisconsin friends had either relocated or would visit from time to time.

John was preceded in death by his wife Irene, Grandad Alfred Anderson, parents Al and Betty Teisberg, sister Roseann and brother-in-law Red Johnson, sister Elizabeth Wightman, father and mother in-law Hans and Aurora Wange.

John is survived by his sons Jay (Nadine) Teisberg of Tavares, FL; Jim (Jill) Teisberg of Cambridge, WI; grandchildren Justin (Kerri), Chelsea, Lana, Elise Teisberg and greatgrandson Owen Teisberg; Briana (Morgan) Bauer and Bridget Morgan; and many nieces, nephews and other dear relatives.

A memorial celebration will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 5801 Highway 51, McFarland, WI from 4 to 7pm Thursday October 6. A private family interment, officiated by Pastor Thomas Smrcka, will be held at Jenson's Cemetery in Edgerton the day after.
