John (Jack) Seim - Cottage Grove, WI
John (Jack) Seim entered into eternal life on Saturday, September 8, 2012 surrounded by his family. John was born on December 13, 1929 to Goodworth and Lillian Seim of Madison. He married Doris Ransom on February 8, 1958 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Madison.
John leaves behind his loving wife, Doris of 54 years. John was a dedicated father to his five children: Janell Rice (Fred Bucksbaum) of Fitchburg, Theresa (Dee) Thompson of Madison, Jennifer (Edward) Stenjem of Marshall, David Seim of Sun Prairie, and Kelly Seim of Cincinnati, OH. John is also survived by his grandchildren Cathie (Joel) Kuklinski of Sun Prairie, Jeremy Rice of Madison, Ian Thompson of Madison, Jacob and Riley Seim of Sun Prairie and two great granddaughters Gabrielle and Delilah Kuklinski of Sun Prairie.
John is preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Jerry Seim, his beloved sister in law, Mary Lou, and his brother Edwin.
John worked for Oscar Mayer until his retirement in 1985. John was an avid gardener and loved his flower; when people stopped by to admire his tulips he would say "These flowers belong to God; I am just taking care of them for him." John joined St. Patrick Catholic church in 1963 and was an active member until the time of his death. John enjoyed his family, watching sports, a good steak, gambling and playing cards, reading, animals, his toy poodle, Buffy, and most of all, his flowers.
Friends and family are welcome to celebrate John's life with a visitation on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Cress Funeral Home located at 3325 East Washington Avenue, Madison from 4:30-8:00 pm. A visitation will be held at St Patrick Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 10:00-11:00 am, at 434 N. Main Street, Cottage Grove, WI. A Catholic funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am with Father John Sasse presiding. Entombment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery
John always believed in helping others who were less fortunate than he was, in that spirit, his family asks that family and friends bring donations for the local food pantry and the Dane County Humane Society. Collection boxes will be located at the funeral home and church.

The kiss of the son for pardon
The song of the birds for mirth
One's nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.
