John Rasmussen passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, surrounded by his children and loving family.
John was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on April 3, 1950, to John and Regina Rasmussen. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1968 and from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh in 1972. Following his education, John proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1975.
On October 13, 1979, John married Faye Francois. Together, they made their home in Stoughton, Wisconsin, where they welcomed their children, Ricky and Clarlie.
John was a devoted father who loved coaching and cheering on his children—whether it was baseball or dance, he was always their biggest supporter.
John worked at Nelson Global Products for many years before retiring in 2013. He later enjoyed his time working with Main Street Kitchen, where he built lasting friendships and meaningful connections.
He loved taking road trips in his beloved Nissan 350Z sports car and was an avid trivia enthusiast, especially treasuring his Trivia Nights at Viking Lanes with his son, Ricky. Above all, John cherished being a grandpa—spending every moment he could with his daughter, Clarlie, and granddaughter, Cece, brought him immeasurable joy.
John is survived by his son, Ricky; his daughter, Clarlie (Jacob Bartlett); his sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Don Schettl; and his beloved granddaughter, Cece. He is also lovingly remembered by Jacob’s children, Savanah and Charlie. John remained devoted to and continued to care for his former wife and mother of his children, Faye Francois.
He will be deeply missed by his in-laws: Renee and Donnie Funseth, Denise Francois and Mike Stollfus, Rick and Carol Francois, Ed Francois, Paul and Jackie Gehin, Jay and Helen Francois, and John and Shelly Sarbacker.
John leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories among his nieces and nephews, who will always remember him as the uncle who told the best ghost stories and had the “funnest” weekend house.
John Rasmussen’s kindness, humor, and love for his family will be remembered forever.
Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect St., Stoughton. A time of gathering will be from 12:00 noon until the time of services.
