John W. Radermacher

John Radermacher, age 72, of Waunakee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at UW Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.

John was born on March 3, 1953, in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Werner and Emerald Radermacher. He grew up in the area and graduated from Middleton High School in 1971. On March 31, 1973, he married his best friend and love of his life, Jean Unger, in Waunakee. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to their community.

John dedicated 35 years of service to the Village of Waunakee Street Department, retiring in March of 2008. His commitment to serving his community extended beyond his career. John proudly served as a Municipal Judge for Waunakee and was a long-time, devoted member of the Waunakee Fire Department. Throughout his years with the department, he held several leadership roles, including Captain for 2 years, 1st Lieutenant for 7 years, 2nd Lieutenant for 2 years, and Steward for 7 years. His dedication also carried over to the Waunakee Emergency Medical Services, where he served as an EMT and driver, always ready to lend a hand in times of need.

John was a man of many passions. An avid bowler, he proudly achieved three perfect 300 games during his bowling career. He also enjoyed playing softball, pitching horseshoes, golfing, hunting, fishing, cheering on his favorite sports teams and spending much time up north at the cabin. But above all, John's greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and family, creating cherished memories that will live on in their hearts.

John is survived by wife Jean, daughters Jackie (Dave) Zuhde and Jody (Jason) Pieper, grandchildren Riley (Emma Lounsbery) and Mallory Zuhde, Jacob, Jade and Jonna Pieper, two sisters Jeanne Lerum and Rosie (Peter) Mueller and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Emerald and father Werner, two sisters Shirley Zweifel and Meryl Hemann. Father and mother-in-law Marvin and Charlene Unger.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Rex’s Innkeeper 301 N. Century Ave. Waunakee. A ceremony will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. by the Waunakee Fire Dept., as a tribute to John’s Many years of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Waunakee Fire Department, an organization close to John and the family’s hearts.

John's dedication to his family, friends, and community will never be forgotten. His legacy of service, kindness, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
