John C. Lewis

August 13, 1936 — March 8, 2024

Fitchburg

John Carmond Lewis of Fitchburg, WI passed away peacefully at BeeHive Homes of Oregon on March 8 surrounded by his loving family.

John was born August 13, 1936, to John and Wilma Lewis in Dodgeville, WI. He was honored to be a part of the graduating class of 1954, who he stayed in touch with throughout his entire life. He attended UW Platteville for two years before enlisting in the US Navy where he proudly served on the USS Leonard F. Mason. He was honorably discharged in 1961. He started working for Nagle-Hart in 1959, which later became FABCO (a dealer of Caterpillar Equipment) and retired after 38 years as an IT Manager. He loved to bike, golf, ski, and most of all, spend time with his family.

John married Sherry Ajer, his beloved wife, in 1985. Together they raised two children, Michelle and Randy. Being a father was his greatest joy in life. He is survived by his wife Sherry, daughter Michelle (David) McCrumb and their children Luca and Cora, and son Randy (Geneva) Lewis.

To honor John’s memory, we are holding a celebration of his life on March 18 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Rd. Visitation will be held at 10:00 with service to follow at 11:00. Donations can be made to BeeHive Homes of Oregon or Agrace Hospice.
