John Lauretic

Stoughton - Our loving Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather John Eugene Lauretic Jr. entered into eternal life on August 9, 2014.

John was born in Illinois on August 25, 1929 to John and Gladys (Bowen) Lauretic. He was raised in rural Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School in 1949. John joined the US Army after High School serving in the Army Band during the Korean War.

On November 28, 1952 John married the love of his life and soul mate Shirley Ellen Cole. Together they lived in Stoughton where they raised their seven children.

John worked for many years as a Tool and Die machinist. John took great pride in his work and his creations. After his retirement John joined Shirley driving school bus for the Stoughton School District.

John had a love for farming, golf, and music which included playing in many bands including Stardusters, Uncle Johnny and his Orchestra and Alpine Brass. John was an avid camper belonging to the Good Sam's Bell Ringers.

After John and Shirley both retired they enjoyed travelling with their Weekender Group, playing cards and enjoying time with their friends at Taylor Ridge Apartments in Cottage Grove. But spending time with his family was John's favorite part of retirement.

John was a past Boy Scout Leader, member of the American Legion Post 59, and member of Abiding Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove.

John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Shirley, children Daniel (Linda) Lauretic, Sharon (Thomas) Bates, Theresa (Mike) Whalen, John (Cheryl) Lauretic III, Timothy (Teresa) Lauretic, Nancy (William) Johnson, and Brian (Tina) Lauretic. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Virgene Meredith and Phyllis Quale.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Abiding Shepherd Lutheran Church, 406 W. Cottage Grove Rd, Cottage Grove. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon immediately following the service. A private family burial will take place at a later time.

"Dad, although we are apart now, you're always in our hearts, in every single thing we do, you play the biggest part."
