John “Jack” Vincent Kruchten, age 75, of Cross Plains passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025 during a rehab stay in Verona.
Jack was born to Albert and Mahala (Dohm) Kruchten minutes behind his twin sister, Jean, on December 30,1949. He graduated from Wisconsin Heights High School and then from Madison Area Technical College with an associate degree in Auto Mechanics. He utilized those skills more for family and friends when his entrepreneurial spirit sparked him to start his own successful business, J & S Tile. There too, he offered his services/expertise for little to no cost to health care facilities in addition to numerous residential, businesses and communities. His generosity also extended to his passion for gardening. He and his faithful canine friends, Callie and Remington spent hours gardening for others, when his health no longer supported tile setting and gardening, he consulted on difficult tile jobs and changed to fruit trees and became an apiarist (beekeeper), sharing those fruits and hundreds of pounds of honey.
Jack served in the Army Reserve, 826th Ordinance Division for many years. He traveled extensively in the US and Canada hunting, fishing and following sporting events, especially Badger sports. He said recently he missed only Alaska and Maine for visits.
He is further survived by his siblings, Joe (Kathy), Bill (Kaye), Mary Gillette (Charlie Albrecht), Jean (Al Niehus), Kathleen (Bill) Bladl, Larry (Suzan Graves), Donna, Evelyn (Doug) Bartells, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mahala (Dohm) Kruchten and Jay Kruchten a nephew.
Private services were held.
Burial was at St. Martin of Tours in Martinsville.
Jack’s family extend their appreciation to Lynn and her team at Four Winds Manor for their dignified care and compassion.
