NEKOOSA/WAUNAKEE- John F. (Jack) Herrick, age 84, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016. He was born on September 18, 1931, the son of Viola Herrick. He married Joan Kruger on May 12, 1951, at St. Raphael Cathedral in Madison, who preceded him in death in 1990. He married Nancy Henry in 1995 who survives him.
Jack lived and worked in Madison most of his life. He was a graduate of Madison Edgewood High School and then served in the US Army as an airplane mechanic at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas from 1951 to 1953. He then worked for Messner, Inc. where he began his career in HVAC. He owned and operated his own business, Lake City Heating and Air Conditioning, until his retirement.
Jack and Nancy moved to Nekoosa in 1997. He appreciated his condo community friends and took great pride in maintaining the association pool. In his retirement years, he enjoyed wintering in Florida and cheering on the Brewers, Badgers and Packers. Jack just celebrated his 85th birthday party with family and friends three weeks ago.
Jack is also survived by his 3 children, Debbie (John) Cullen of Waunakee, Karen (Mike) Miles of Oregon and Tim (Betsy) Herrick of Rochester, MI; his 7 grandchildren, Sara (Marty) Koppes, Katie (Matt) True, Krystal (Mark) Boardman, Molly Miles, Sean (Austin), Zachary (Samantha) and Jessica Herrick; and five great grandchildren, Madeline, Brett, Maeve, Mara and Avery. Jack is also survived by Scott (Beverly) Henry and their two sons, Ross and Dean, of Austin, Texas and Stephanie Henry of Madison.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Saint John the Baptist Church, 209 South St. Waunakee. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
