STOUGHTON- John Carl Eugster, age 82, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. He was born on October 8, 1930, the son of Swiss immigrants, John and Berta (Thurnheer) Eugster. He was raised, speaking Swiss, on the family's dairy farm in Oregon, WI. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Okinawa. John married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Collins on November 8, 1952. They worked side-by-side on their dairy farm on Hwy 138 and raised six children. John was always driven to do the best in whatever he set out to do. He excelled at a young age and throughout his life; whether it was academics, athletics, flying, farming or golfing.
John was devoted to his family. As busy as he was with the large family and dairy farm, he always had time to lend a helping hand to strangers and friends alike. The twinkle in his eyes, his smile, soft humble spirit and extraordinary generosity will not be forgotten by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Tom (Rachelle), Dan, Sue, David and Joe (Carol) Eugster; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Eugster; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Wilma (Ron), Werner (Carol), and Lois (Ralph); and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patricia; son, John; granddaughter, Esprit.
A Funeral Mass will be held at NOON on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 323 N. Van Buren, Stoughton, with Monsignor Gerard Healy officiating. The family will greet friends at church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Following the services, John will have his last ride through the Eugster Farm Market with military honors and a luncheon following.
Special thanks to Agrace HospiceCare, Msgr. Gerard Healy, and the staff of Azura Memory Care. Memorials may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church.
