John Becker

Waupaca/Madison - John William Becker, age 84, who resided at the Veterans Home in King, WI passed away at the Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, WI on Saturday evening, December 20th, 2014. John was born in Chicago, IL on May 30th, 1930, the youngest of two sons to the late Paul and Elizabeth (Garth) Becker. As a young man, he entered the military and fought bravely with his fellow Marines during the Korean War. Upon his return home he reunited with the woman that had spent many long hours waiting and praying for his safe return, and on July 9th, 1955 John married Patricia (Munson) Becker.
John worked in Chicago at Wieboldt's Department Store. During this time, John and his wife raised four children. The family moved to Lombard, IL where John worked in the window treatment business for over 30 years. John finished his window treatment career in Madison, and worked part time in maintenance at McDonald's. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing Nintendo, the Wii, bowling, watching football, and he enjoyed old cowboy movies. John felt blessed to have survived brain surgery to remove a brain tumor.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of nearly 47 years, Patty.

Survivors include his older brother Donald Becker, his sister in law Jacquelyn, his 4 loving children: Paul Becker, Donald Becker, Anna Becker and Gary Becker, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Family and friends may call at Cress Funeral Home (3610 Speedway Rd, Madison, WI 53705) on Friday, December 26th, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, December 27th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Norbert's Catholic Church (8944 County Hwy Y, Sauk City, WI 53583) with Father Alex Navarro presiding. John will be laid to rest next to his wife at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Veteran organization of your choice.
