Joanne Lynette Price

Our beloved Joanne Lynette Price (age 85) passed away on May 30, 2024, at the Ingleside Nursing facility in Mt Horeb, WI after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Joanne, daughter of Burnette and Mildred Severson, graduated from Blanchardville high school where she sang in the chorus and was a four-year cheerleader. After graduation, she attended MATC in Madison, WI where she received an LPN nurse’s degree and pursued her nursing career at a Madison hospital. She married her husband Jim Price (physical education teacher, athletic director, and coach) in 1957 and soon after started a family.

Joanne and husband lived in Madison, Elroy, Brillion, Waunakee (for 41 years) and Deforest. Joanne became a stay-at-home mom when the first of their three children was born. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waunakee and when her children were young, was a volunteer Sunday school teacher. She also assisted her husband with running the Waunakee summer park program. Joanne put her heart and soul into her family. She spent countless hours cheering on her children at their music and sporting events and her husband at his coaching events.

Some of her other passions were playing softball, bridge, bowling, raising Boston Terriers and swing dancing. Joanne loved to travel. She and the family took multiple road trips visiting every national park and monument west of the Mississippi.

In retirement, Joanne, with husband Jim, traveled to London, Hawaii and took four cruises. They temporarily lived in Vale, CO during two ski seasons. They worked for the ski resort part time and traveled extensively on their days off. Joanne also loved music and sports. She and her husband enjoyed attending events at the Madison Overture Center and other venues near Milwaukee. They avidly followed the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers and attended many games over the years. Joanne’s fun-loving sense of humor and her extraordinary kind, generous and loving nature touched many people throughout her life. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.

Joanne is survived by her loving husband (of 66 years) Jim Price; sons: Jeff and Tim; daughter, Sue; grandsons: Nicolas and Alex; and great grandchildren: Parker and Emma. She is also survived by brothers: Bernie and Dennis; and sister, Karen.

A visitation will not be held but a celebration of life may be planned in the future.
