Joanna Overn

Madison - Joanna A. Overn, age 93, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017 at UW Hospital. She was born on June 8, 1924 to Orlando and Margaret (Anderson) Overn.

Joanna was a lifelong Madison resident. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with an English Major. Joanna was a teacher of music at MATC, and taught private piano lessons. She was a major contributor to the Madison Opera and Madison Symphony. She was a lifetime member of the Madison Opera Board, and also performed with the Madison Opera. Joanna was a member and on the board of the National Telemedia Council. Joanna enjoyed reading, playing the piano, and always loved to sing.

Joanna resided at Hope and A Future for almost 5 years. They were her family, eating meals together, playing games and having music sessions.

Joanna leaves behind her close friends, Marieli Rowe, James (Mary Claire) Salerno, and Susan Broden.

A Visitation will be held from 9:00AM- 9:45AM on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. A Graveside Service will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery at 10AM, with a reception after services at the funeral home.
