Joann Seltzner

Joann Eyvonne Seltzner, age 86, of Sun Prairie passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18th, 2017, with her family by her side. Joann was born in Cottage Grove on May 25th, 1931 to Theodore and Evelyn (Olson) Nelson. Joann attended Sun Prairie High School and worked as a typist in downtown Madison. She married Richard H. Seltzner in a ceremony at her parent's house on June 2nd, 1951. Thru 66 years of marriage, they enjoyed their nine children, owning a gas station, running a dairy farm, gardening, bowling, golfing, wintering in Arizona, and traveling to Norway, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, as well as the US. Joann's greatest joy was taking care of her nine children, spoiling her 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition for her love of family, Joann enjoyed sewing and baking, making wedding dresses for her six daughters, as well as their wedding cakes. Some of our favorite memories are her hosting big family holidays, spoiling her grandchildren with candy, her infinite number of xmas cookies, her great love of shoes, watching the Green Bay Packers at noon on Sundays and tasting her delicious pastries on Saturday mornings.

She is survived by her children, Vicky(Anthony), Donald(Debbie), William(Gayle), Cindy(Rich), Kathy(Harry), Lori, Jeffrey(Carmin), Debra(Mark), Tammy(Ryan), and her brothers and sisters, Jerry(Carol), Joyce, James(Sandy), Jean(George).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Theodore, her beloved sister, Janice Nelson, and her infant son William Richard.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Agrace Hospice for their loving care of Joann in her final days. We thank God for the gift of her life and the blessing of the time we were able to spend with her.

A private ceremony and burial will be taking place for her immediate family.
