Joan Kesterson

McFarland - Joan Christine Kesterson ( nee Slipper) passed in the early hours of March 17, 2015. She was born on July 1, 1929 in Milwaukee to Wilmer (Bill) and Erna Slipper. In 1969 she, her former husband Robert, and their two sons moved from Brown Deer, WI to McFarland, WI where she remained until moving to the Heritage Monona facility in 2012.

She worked for over 20 years at the State of Wisconsin DNR retiring as the circulation manager of the DNR's Wisconsin Natural Resources Magazine. After retirement she pursued her hobby of gardening, and volunteered as a member of the Olbrich Garden Club.

Joan is survived by her sons Kevin (Tim Zinkgraf) and Tom (Karen), all of whom reside in McFarland, her grandson Tim (Lisa Kornetzke) who reside in Stoughton, and her step-grandsons Curtis Hall, currently residing in Brazil, and Richard (Jessica) Hall of the Town of Dunn. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerry (Carol) Slipper, and her former husband Robert.

The family wishes to thank the staff of both the Heritage Monona Memory Care unit and Agrace HospiceCare for their excellent care of Joan this past year.



Private services will be held for the family, with interment of ashes in the Town of Dunn Burying Ground. Memorials should be directed to Agrace HospiceCare or the Dane County Humane Society.
