Joan Icke Dunn

Madison- Joan Dunn, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 25, 2025 due to complications from a heart attack. She was born in Madison on February 10. 1941 to George and Virginia (Black) Icke.

Joan attended Highlands Mendota Beach School (now Crestwood), Monticello Preparatory School in Alton, IL, and the University of WI. While in 5th grade at the Shorewood Hills ballroom dance class she met Thomas A. Dunn. In 1960 they were married, and had three daughters. Joan and Tad spent many years in the Green Tree neighborhood where she was able to contribute to the Greentree Board. Working a part-time job Joan also was a working member of The Children's Theatre (CTM) helping create theater sets. Later Joan was the co-founder and longtime membership chairman of the Madison Knitters Guild.

Joan is survived by her husband, Tad Dunn; three daughters, Betsy Cross, Julie (Charlie) Brown, and Abby (Eric) Bloedorn; a son from another mother, Andy Breaulieu; grandchildren, Paige (Jesse) DeNier, Hailey (Zach) Nelson, Cole Korte, and Aria Bloedorn; and great grandchildren, Conrad and Evelyn DeNier and Ripley Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and granddaughter, Petra Bloedorn.

A celebration of life will be determined at a later date.

Memorials may be made to UW Hospital, Agrace HospiceCare Inc., or to the charity of the donors choice.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at UW Hospital, Dr. Anne Kolan and the many nurses and doctors that attended to Joan, and the outstanding care she received from Agrace Hospice especially nurse Ines Berna.
