Jill Winters

Jill Ellen Jaeckle Winters, Madison, 58

Jill Jaeckle Winters of Madison, Beloit, and Stoughton passed away on July 21, 2015. She was the daughter of Gerald and Joanne Jaeckle of Beloit and Janesville. Jill was born in Beloit, Wisconsin. She attended public schools through graduation from Beloit Memorial High School in 1975. Jill went on to attend the University of Wisconsin--Madison School of Nursing and was member of the Delta Gamma sorority. Jill completed her Master's Degree in Nursing at UW--Madison and became a nurse practitioner and APNP. Jill taught nursing at the University of Virginia and Simmons College in Boston. She then devoted herself to direct care practice for almost thirty years, with a short stint as a school nurse. Late in her practice, Jill drew together clinical and natural medicines to offer whole spectrum therapies for her patients.

Jill met Dennis Winters of Madison while attending UW--Madison and were married in 1986. They raised three wonderful children: Daniel, Kenett, and Aubrie. Daniel wed Katherine Anderson of Madison in July 2014. They live and work in Waterloo, Iowa as an engineer and a teacher. Kenett and Aubrie will attend the University of Minnesota this fall; Kenett to begin Pharmacy School and Aubrie to complete her study of dance.

Jill is best known and recognized for caring for anything living - people, animals, and plants. Through innumerable patients, five dogs, three horses, numerous stray cats, and beautiful gardens, Jill sought and found transcendence in the beauty of living things. It was Jill's inherent nature that made her a wonderful nurse and caretaker. She so enjoyed her book club and she served as secretary for her church board.

Jill is survived by her mother Joanne (MacLeish) Jaeckle, her sister Victoria (Gary) Schroeder, her twin sister Julie (Mike) Green and her sister-in-law Helena (Dan) Faraca. Jill was preceded in death by her father, the Honorable Gerald Jaeckle, and her brother, Dr. Richard Jaeckle.
