It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Eugene Knight, 87, who left us peacefully on July 2, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 9, 1937. In his youth, he was active in the Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of East High School in 1955. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1956, and was forever proud to be a Marine.
He married Linda Liter in 1958, and they had 4 children together; Vic, Joe, Gwen and Gail. In 1971, they moved from Kansas City to Stoughton, Wisconsin where he resided with Linda until the time of his death.
He enjoyed a lengthy career as a sales representative for US Pipe, Tyler Pipe and Star Pipe. Within this role he developed many lifetime friendships with customers and associates.
Jerry was an avid fly fisherman and also enjoyed camping, canoeing and hunting. These hobbies took him to many spectacular places that he shared with family and lifelong friends.
Jerry had a larger than life presence and had passion for good food, drink, quality music and movies, a great cigar and good company.
His love for the outdoors led him to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where he and Linda purchased property. He designed and built a rustic log cabin. His family and friends enjoyed countless gatherings there and it will remain as part of his legacy.
He was the leader of his family in many ways including organizing family trips, creating great meals and establishing holiday traditions, making sure his wife and children had many wonderful experiences and great memories to cherish. Upon moving to Stoughton, he helped to establish the Babe Ruth Little League, where he coached his sons and many Stoughton youth.
Jerry was “Boompa” to 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He taught his children the value of family, hard work and the importance of preserving traditions. Jerry was preceded in death by his son and best friend Vic, and many close friends.
