Blied, Jerome 'Jerry'
Stoughton- Jerome J. 'Jerry' Blied, age 76, passed away at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg on Thursday, June 7, 2012. He was born in Madison on September 15, 1935, a son of Jerome and Eva (Paff) Blied, Sr. On May 10, 1957, he was united in marriage to Diane Skalitzky at St. Joseph's in Waterloo. He served his country in the Army Reserves and as a State Patrol Officer for 32 years. He attended the Academy in 1958, and served as a trooper. In 1968, he was promoted to sergeant, and in 1972, to lieutenant. In 1975 he was promoted to captain, becoming commander of Dist. 1 headquarters in 1980. In 1987, he was promoted to colonel. Jerry retired from the State Patrol in 1990. He enjoyed camping, his motor home, model railroading and golfing. He was an avid reader and followed Indy and NASCAR racing. Jerry had a great sense of humor, and always had a joke to tell. He is remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Jerry is survived by his precious wife of 55 years, Diane; 5 amazing children, Brian Blied, Barb (John) Morrison, Chuck (Tammy) Blied, Christine Bucher, and Mary Kay (Damon) Wilcox; 3 above average grandchildren, Tyler and Jordan Blied, and Jonathan Morrison; and 2 dogs, Abby and Samantha. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 15, 2012 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, with Monsignor Gerard Healy officiating. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 14th at the Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, and again at church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jerry's name to Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. He was admired and respected by his colleagues and his loving family.
