Jerome A. Hellenbrand, age 84, of Waunakee died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, November 19, 2012. He was born on April 26, 1928 to Gertrude C. (Frederick) and John W. Hellenbrand and lived his entire life in the Waunakee area.
He married Dorothy "Tootie" M. Brockman at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Madison on May 30, 1952. He farmed until 1968 and then worked construction, followed by running his own realty business until he retired. He enjoyed watching the Badgers, Packers, Brewers and followed all Waunakee sports. Jerome enjoyed playing cards and growing vegetables in his garden. His greatest pleasure was spending, time on lakes and rivers fishing with friends and family.
Jerome is survived by his wife of 60 years, Tootie; six children, Carin (Don Ace) Wallin, Richard (Cindy), Michael (Ruth), Jane (Tony) Schwartz all of Waunakee, Rodney (Bonnie) of Pardeeville, Daniel (Denise) of Parker, CO; 13 grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Nehls, Benjamin (Alicia) Wallin, Jessica (Jess) Feucht, Angela Hellenbrand, Jacob Hellenbrand, Katherine Davis, Charles (Roberta) Schwartz, Vicky (Jeremy) Dolfin, Christopher (Natalie Helt) Schwartz, Chad (Lisa) Hellenbrand, Celsey (Chris) Roth, Chase Hellenband, and Tyler Wold; Jerome was blessed with 21 great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Donald (Evie), Raymond (Mary Ann), John (Colleen), Doris (Don) Schneider, and Darlene (Dick) Miller; his in-laws, Florence Hellenbrand, Donald (Diane) Brockman, Joan (Dick) Martinelli, Eugene (Gloria) Brockman; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; and sister-in-law, Beverly.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 209 South Street, Waunakee. Friends may call on Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 HWY Q, Waunakee. Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to thank Dr. Trent Thompson and the staff at the Dean Clinic Waunakee for their great care of Jerome in the past few years. Special thanks to the Waunakee Police, Waunakee EMS, Waunakee Fire Dept., Middleton EMS and the Medical Examiner's office staff for their prompt response, but especially for their display of kindness and caring for our family.
