Obituary

Jeffrey Clair Swenson, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2026.

Jeff was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin and was a graduate of Madison West High School. Hockey was an important part of his younger years, and he played defense for the South Side Saints.

For several years, Jeff worked at Moseley’s on the Capitol Square in Madison, a familiar gathering place that was part of the fabric of downtown Madison for many years.

Jeff had a special connection to northern Wisconsin and particularly enjoyed the time he spent with his mother, Barbara, at the family cabin in Washburn. Those visits brought him many happy memories and reflected the close bond he shared with his mother.

He also took great pleasure in some of life's simple traditions. Few things made Jeff happier than a good lutefisk dinner, and he looked forward to the lutefisk suppers served by area churches. It was a tradition he embraced with enthusiasm and one that family and friends will fondly remember about him.

Jeff's life was not always an easy one, but he was deeply loved by his family. They will remember the good times, the laughter, the traditions he enjoyed, and the memories they shared with him over the years.

Jeff is survived by his sister, Jessica J. Swenson, and his nephew, Jakob O. Swenson. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Barbara A. Swenson, and his father, Richard C. Swenson.

A memorial service and celebration of Jeff’s life will be held next summer in Washburn, Wisconsin, a place that held many special memories for him and his family. Details will be announced at a later date.

May he rest in peace.
