Jeannette M. Haberkorn age 76 of Sun Prairie, WI passed away on May 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 17, 1948, in Watertown, WI, she was the daughter of Ralph and Marion Wedl. Jeannette graduated from Jefferson High School in the class of 1966. She married Laverne Haberkorn on July 10, 1971, in Jefferson, WI, and they shared over 53 years together.
Jeannette worked many jobs. Most recently she was a Librarian at the Sun Prairie Public Library and a Certified Nursing Assistant with Comfort Keepers. She had a profound passion and love for helping and caring for the elderly. She had a warm gentle smile, beautiful blue eyes, and a big heart that was loved by everyone.
Jeannette is survived by her mother Marion Wedl of Waterloo; husband LaVerne Haberkorn of Sun Prairie; daughter Sue Haberkorn (Jeff Carley) of Windsor; son Dan (Becky) Haberkorn of Sussex; and beloved grandsons, Jaden Carley and Collin Haberkorn. She is also survived by her sisters: Sharon (Robert) Kleinsteiber of Lake Mills, Ann (Randy) Logan of Cambridge, Kathy (Dave) Nieman of Fort Atkinson, and Connie (Pat) McDevitt of Kenosha; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Wedl.
Family was very important to Jeannette. One of her cherished memories was going to a family friend’s cabin up north to enjoy nature with her loved ones. She especially treasured moments with her grandsons; often expressing her pride in them. She loved playing cards with them, viewing their art displays, cooking for them, and attending their many sporting events. Her interests included dogs, cuddling with her pet bird, flowers, gardening, reading, sewing, baking, birdwatching, and cheering for the Brewers.
A celebration of Jeannette’s life will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, WI 53590, at a date to be determined later in May or early June. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brighton Hospice for their kindness, support, and wonderful care of our mom. We also like to thank staff of The Legacy of DeForest for their support.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express sympathy may consider a memorial donation to either Shelter from the Storm Animal Rescue or Feathered Friends Sanctuary & Rescue, Inc.
Mom/Grandma, you have been our rock and foundation for many years, taking great care of us and teaching us so much. We are strong because of you, and we will carry on from here. Please take care of the flowers, birds, and dogs in Heaven. We know we will have the greatest guardian angel watching over us. We love you and will miss you every day.
