Madison

Jeanette (Nette) Ruth Schlinsog (92) died on July 14, 2024 at Sebring Assisted Care, with her family at her side. She was born on January 1, 1932 to Arno and Verna Guk.

She grew up on the family farm, where she loved to drive the tractor. After graduating from Granton High School in Granton WI, she was joined in marriage to William (Bill) Schlinsog on June 12, 1949. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on June 12, 2024. Bill and Nette had two children, a son, Terry and daughter, Patricia. Their early married years were spent in Richland Center, WI, where they formed many lasting friendships. They moved in 1964 to Middleton WI. Bill worked for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture and Nette loving helping him with all the “June Breakfast on the Farms” , as well as assisting at the National and World Cheese Contests over the years. Nette was also very involved in her church. She did everything from teaching Sunday school, leading a prayer group, to becoming the first woman President of the Church Council for her church. She also volunteered for many years with the Way Forward (formerly Middeton Outreach Ministry). Bill and Nette were involved with the AFS program, sponsoring students from Thailand (Cher) and Denmark (Charlotte) as well as many others. They were great travelers, visiting almost every country in Europe, the Caribbean, 2 trips to Thailand, and seeing many U.S. National parks. They also enjoyed their cabin near Granton, WI, hosting many family reunions. Mom loved nothing better than being a housewife, cooking great meals for her family and being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (Oma).

She is survived by her husband, Bill, as well as daughter, Patricia (Mark) Herrling, and granddaughters: Trisha (Robert) Roth and Lisa (Matthew) Mcmonagle. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Kelly (Katya), Lauren, and Grace Roth and Emma, Owen and Zachary McMonagle; sister-in-law, Pat Schlinsog; and nieces: Suzanne, Kay and Jill; and nephew, Michael. She was predeceased by her parents; her son, Terry; her sister, Lorraine; her brother, William; and brothers-in-law, Ted and Dick Schlinsog.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 7337 Hubbard Ave. in Middleton. Family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. A luncheon will follow. Memorials may be made to Way Forward, https://www.wayforwardresources.org/ or Agrace Hospice https://www.agrace.org/.

Special thanks to all of the staff at Sebring Memory Care for making Mom’s life comfortable and safe for her, faithful friend Maureen Oostdik, and Agrace Hospice for their end of life care.
