Jeanette Maxine Peterson

Stoughton- Jeanette "Jean" M. Peterson, age 86, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation. She was born in Owatonna, MN on February 20, 1938 the daughter of Maxine and Julius Reich. 

Jean was raised in Milwaukee and graduated from Pulaski High School in 1956. She worked as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines from 1957 until 1959. On August 22, 1959 Jean was united in marriage to Howard "Howie" Peterson, recently celebrating their 65 anniversary.

Jean worked in an opthamology office in Stoughton while raising her three children. In 1992 Jean and Howie moved to Sun City, Arizona where they enjoyed and embraced the Southwest lifestyle. Jean loved to read, dance and sing. She worked at an opthamology office, volunteered at Sun City hospital, and was an usher at church. In 2021 Jean and Howie moved back to Stoughton to be close to family. 

Jean will be missed and is lovingly survived by her husband of 65 years, Howie; three children, Jeff (Kris), Laura (Bob) Klitzke, and Ted (Julia) Peterson; grandchildren, Chelsea (Kyle) Drouin, Brandon, Tanner (girlfriend, Alyssa Nuon), Kelli (James Nachtigal) Klitzke, TJ (Hannah), Emma, and Casey Peterson, Tucker and Shad Peterson; great grandchildren, Owen Klitzke, Brooklyn and Sawyer Drouin, and a great grandchild due in October 2024; sister-in-law, Janet Whaley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Nicholas Peterson; and sister, Diana Lantz.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect Street, Stoughton. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home on Friday. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Nazareth Health & Rehabilitation, or Agrace HospiceCare Inc.
