Jean (Jeane) Marie Powles passed away Tuesday, October 24th at St. Mary's Hospital from complications after a stroke. She was 85.
Mrs. Powles was born to Marion and Lyle Lilly on March 1st, 1938. She was raised across from Edgewood on Woodrow Street in Madison, Wisconsin. In 1956 She graduated from Madison West High School and then completed an associate degree at Madison College. She accepted a position as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Webcrafter’s Incorporated, where she met Claron (CJ) Johnson Powles of Evansville Wisconsin, whom she married on October 17th, 1964. The couple had two children, Derek Johnson Powles, currently residing in Madison, Wisconsin, and Dara Marie Powles, currently residing in New Glarus, Wisconsin. Jeane retired from Webcrafter’s Employee Credit Union in 2003.
Jeane loved travel and visited all fifty states, much of Europe, England, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. She enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, movies, nature, and most of all the people she loved. She will be remembered as a caring woman who would do anything for her family and friends. She was the kindest person we ever knew.
Jeane is survived by her son Derek and Daughter Dara. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband C.J.
There will be a visitation Tuesday, October 31st from 10am to 12pm at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison WI 53705. Funeral Services will be immediately after at the same location, with lunch to follow. The family asks any donations be made to the United Way of Dane County.
