Born May 1, 1928 in Lausanne, Switzerland; died peacefully April 16, 2013 at Agrace HospiceCare; Janice, his beloved wife of 32 years, was at his side. Loving father of daughter Jeanne Evans-Golay, sons Gabriel and Blaise Golay, and Roger Caplan. Professor of French Literature and Media Literacy in Lausanne until age 60; retired and moved to Madison in 1988. Actively devoted to the arts; Docent in the Chazen Museum, as well as MMOCA. At Capitol Lakes he and Janice organized art exhibits, films, and discussions. They set up a scholarship for gifted violin students in memory of UW School of Music violin professor Vartan Manoogian. Friend, mentor, exceptional human being to many. Memorial service to be announced later.
