Madison - Jean Muldowney passed away on March 21st, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare with her family by her side. Dorothy "Jean" was born in Madison, WI on July 24th, 1925 to Richard and Blanche (Dolan) Breuer. The family moved to Ashton, Iowa in 1929 where Jean and her brother, Donald, were soon joined by a sister, Joretta. They all attended St. Joseph's school where Jean graduated in 1942. Wanting to become a nurse, she joined the Cadet Nurse Corps in 1943 and received her training at St. Vincent's Hospital Accredited Nursing Program in Sioux City, Iowa, graduating in 1946. After graduation, she accepted positions in Iowa, Florida, and Madison, WI. She met her future husband, John Muldowney, in Madison and they were married June 1948 and settled in Highland, WI. To this union four daughters were born; Maureen, Dianne, Molly, and Connie. In 1956, Jean returned to nursing part-time at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dodgeville. In 1970, John and Jean moved to Madison where Jean accepted a position at the Veteran's Hospital for 17 years. In 1985, she accepted a part-time position at Attic Angels Nursing Home until her retirement in 1995. Jean loved her girls dearly and grandchildren and enjoyed the good times and vacations with John. Jean was an active volunteer at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Jean is survived by her daughters, Molly (Tom DeMuth) and Connie (Don Lampman); a son-in-law, Jeff Miskie; grandchildren, Matt (Christina), Chris (Jody), Brianne, Ashley, and Michael; as well as great grandchildren, Danielle, Reagan, Quinn, and Reece. Jean was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Don; sister, Joretta; and daughters, Maureen and Dianne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 11 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Monsignor Kenneth J. Fiedler officiating. A visitation will be held at 10 AM until the time of service. The family would like to thank the Agrace HospiceCare team for the exceptional dignity and care of our mom.
Mom, you did it your way up until the end. You were the strength of the family and we will miss your humor, love, and feistiness. Love you, Mom!
