In Loving Memory

Jean A. Greenwood, age 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. She was born June 25, 1936 in Oconto, daughter to John and Ann (Karbon) Greenwood. Jean was raised at St. Joseph's Orphanage in Green Bay. Jean came to Madison as a teenager with the help of her sister in law Betty. She graduated from Madison East High School. She was employed at the Belmont Hotel on the square and later WPS Insurance in Madison until her retirement in 2007. Additionally, she worked at H& R Block in Monona as a receptionist for 20 years. Jean was hard worker, she volunteered extensively in support of Easter Seals, St. Jude's Children's Hospital and St. Vincent's. Jean was a longtime volunteer at Belmont Nursing Home, assisting with Bingo and other activities. She was a lifetime supporter of many veteran's and child welfare organizations. Jean was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha group for 27 years. Jean enjoyed bowling leagues, traveling, and most of all spending time with her many friends. In didn't matter if Jean was driving to Green Bay, flying to Hawaii or cruising the Mediterranean, we all know that she packed too much. Jean was a loyal "Elvis" fan following his career from the beginning. In recent years she was a member of the Tony Rocker fan club continuing her love of "Elvis" music through Tony.

She is survived by her niece Jane (Timothy Van Asten) Greenwood of Pulaski; niece in law Mary Greenwood and three grandnephews Paul, Steven and Matthew Greenwood of Green Bay; and a very large circle of friends. Jean was preceded in death by her brother Francis and sister in law Betty Greenwood; uncle "Coobie" Karbon; three nephews John, Wayne and Bill Greenwood ; niece Peggy Waffon and her great nephew- godson Kyle Van Asten; and special friend Art Heinreich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALBERT THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2420 St. Albert Drive., Sun Prairie on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Monsignor Terrance Connors presiding. A visitation will be held at church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
For anyone who met Jean they were unlikely to forget her. Jean will be missed for her strong spirit, loving heart and great sense of humor.
