Jean Berge

March 4, 1930 — June 12, 2013

Jean E. Berge, a longtime resident of Deerfield, died on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at
St Mary's hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in LaCrosse, WI, on March 4, 1930, the daughter of George and Rosella Knutson-Dixon.

Jean loved to golf, play cards and socialize with her friends at Lake Ripley Country Club. She was an artist with her knitting needles, and she enjoyed knitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each child has been presented with a beautiful afghan blanket hand knit by her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merl Berge, whom she married on November 18, 1960. They spent many years in Tucson, AZ during winter months, after their retirement.

Jean is survived by daughters; Debby Jarlsberg, Linda (Bob) Bennett, Connie Anderson, Carole (Ken) Langehaug, grandchildren, Robby McCabe (Jessica Derezinski), Kurt (Emily) McCabe, Sheila McCabe (Adam) Haried, Joy (John) Hensel, Seth (Nicole) Halstead, Leah (Rich) Wong, Joe (Krista) Langehaug, Karena (Brian) Sweezy, great-grandchildren, Malia, Eva, Westley, Magnus, Daisy, Asher and one expected soon, sister Grace (Robert) Bowman, and nieces and nephews She will be greatly missed by all.

Memorial services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, June 19th at Deerfield Lutheran Church, 206 S. Main Street with Rev. Larry Sexe officiating. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon immediately following the service. Burial will follow the luncheon at Deerfield Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association or Deerfield Lutheran Church.
