Janice Peterson

Janice " Jan" Peterson, age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 23, 2014. Jan was born July 5, 1941, daughter to Stanley and Ethel ( Sherrick) Wood. She attended MATC and received her certificate in child development. After she graduated from MATC she became a preschool teacher and taught for 15 years. After her teaching career, Jan worked for Rocktenn where she retired from being a machine operator. Jan loved to read and travel to Iowa to visit her sister. She leaves behind her five children; son Randy Wood, daughter Pam( Archard Warren) Peterson, sons Stanley ( Becky Fenne) and Gordon Peterson and daughter Tina ( David) Thomsen; grandchildren Christopher ( Sarah), Joseph and Justin ( Amanda Schultz) Buell, Cole, Chase and Candice Peterson, Hayden, Addison, Avery and Reagan Thomsen; 5 great grandchildren; brother Raymond ( Pat) Wood; sisters Karen Durnil, Carol ( Jerry) Wilson and brother Stanley ( Carol) Wood; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and one brother and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial service for Jan will be held 3:00PM, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Cress Funeral Home 3325 East Washington Avenue, Madison. A visitation will be held from 2:00PM until time of service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Jenny at Home Health Hospice and St. Mary's Hospital for the loving care given to our mother.
