Janice Dorothy Kaplan

Janice Kaplan, 80, of Madison passed peacefully away after a short battle of pancreatic cancer with her family by her side on May 14^th, 2023. She was born on February 9^th, 1943 in Chicago, IL, daughter of Tobias and Frieda (Moscovitz) Goldstein. Janice graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Chicago. She married Richard Kaplan in 1966 and later moved to Madison with their son, Allen, where she would spend the rest of her life. More than anything, Janice loved her son and grandsons, family, friends and cats. She was a long-time member of Temple Beth El and most recently of Shaarei Shamayim. She was also a member of the Red Dazzling Dames of the Red Hat Society. Jan loved traveling, especially on cruise ships, working out at the Princeton Club, reading, luncheons with friends, planting flowers, cats and an avid knitter. Janice is survived by her sister, Anita Hochberger (Goldstein), son, Allen (Jennifer) Kaplan, grandsons, Ian and Finnegan Kaplan. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Sunday, May 21^st, 2023 at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 East Washington Ave, Madison, WI 53704. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, 1 Speedway Road, Madison, WI 53704.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Janice’s name to any of her favorite charitable organizations which include the Susan G Komen Foundation, American Cancer Society and the Dane County Humane Society.
