Janice Gay

February 26, 1926 — March 12, 2013

Janice Tollund Gay was born in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin on February 26, 1926 to Attorney Martin Tollund and Esther (Ranum) Tollund. She was a graduate of Mount Horeb High School and attended the University of Wisconsin.
Over her extensive career, she worked for the Wisconsin State Journal, was a Children's Book Buyer for a Chicago publishing house, was a manager at Mosley's book store on the square and oversaw their Children's Book Department. Later, she was the lead receptionist for Attic Angel Tower and Nursing Home for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Attic Angel Association.
She married the love of her life, Robert Lee Gay on April 27th, 1947. She had to wait until she was over 21, per her father's wishes. They had one son, Andrew, whom she chose to stay at home with for sixteen years.
She had a deep love of cooking and family, and she often fondly remembered taking care of her several nephews when they were little. She also loved to travel to Florida with Bob every March, and enjoyed making new friends at every opportunity.
Jan is survived by her husband Bob, son Andrew (wife Dannelle) of Sun Prairie, and her cherished grand daughter Sarah Lyn, brother Robert Tollund (wife Janet) and Sister In Law Kathryn Houslet, along with many adored nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sister Lyn Zeisig (husband Edmund Zeisig) and a sister in law, Karen Tollund.
A private family service will be held at a later date, per Jan's wishes. In lieu of flowers, any contribution to Agrace Hospice Care would be preferred, as the family cannot express enough their gratitude to the amazing staff that helped make her last days so peaceful. We also wish to thank the incredible staff on the 8th floor of Meriter Hospital in Madison, and we also wish to thank Dr Mark Beamsley and Dr Paul Kellerman for their excellent care.
