Janet K. Sather (née Kleinheinz), February 27, 1967 – April 1, 2026

Janet K. Sather, age 59, passed away peacefully at home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and generosity.

Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Janet was the beloved daughter of Carl and Mary Kleinheinz. She lived a life defined by compassion, connection, and a deep appreciation for the beauty in everyday moments.

Janet was a proud mother to her two children, Tristan and Nicole, whom she shared with her late husband, Tom Sather. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Nicole and son-in-law Jake Doman; her son Tristan and daughter-in-law Sara Sather; her cherished granddaughter, Severine; her father, Carl Kleinheinz; her fiancé, Richard Marcus; and many dear friends and extended family.

Affectionately known as “Chef Jan,” she expressed her love through cooking, creating meals that brought people together. Her greatest passion was serving unhoused individuals in the Milwaukee area, offering not only food but compassion and dignity.

Janet was a vivacious, free-spirited soul—a true beacon of light who drew everyone toward her—and she had a remarkable gift for making even the simplest things in life feel special and ensuring that all who knew her felt deeply loved.

Her memory will live on in all those whose lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, her family welcomes donations to Emmanuel MKE, a charitable organization which Jan held close to her heart. 

There will be a visitation for Jan on Tuesday, April 7 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd., from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am.
