Jane Wise

MADISON
Jane L. Wise passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the age of 89. She was born in Madison, WI on November 16th, 1928 to the late Earle S. "Pete" and Bertha (Schwenn) Lewis. Jane was a graduate of Madison West High, Class of '46 and the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Class of '51. She married John "Jack" Wise, Jr. on August 23rd, 1952. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1999.

After raising 5 children, Jane became a volunteer extraordinaire! She enjoyed sharing her time through many organizations such as Meriter Hospital, Attic Angels, Prevent Blindness, and Mobile Meals. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, PEO Sisterhood - Chapter H, Alpha Xi Delta, and Badger Basketball Boosters. She loved staying active through golfing, tennis and water exercise classes at Hill Farm pool. She enjoyed many other activities including traveling with family and friends, music, gardening, knitting, the daily crossword, and bridge.

Jane was an avid sports fan; a die-hard Cubs fan along with being a long-time supporter of Wisconsin Athletics. She had Badger basketball and football season tickets for over 60 years. Jane also enjoyed spectating all her grandson's athletic events and stage performances.

Jane was an incredibly kind and gentle woman with a compassionate soul. She rarely said a negative word about anyone and always had a soft spot in her heart for animals and children. Jane was an exceptional role model and caring friend. We all have been blessed to have had Jane in our lives.

Jane will be dearly missed by her 5 children: Nancy (Lawrence) Dubisz, Susan (Dennis) Greeno, Thomas (Cheryl) Wise, Patricia (John) Terry, Kathryn (William) Heiser; 7 grandsons: Mitch, Ryan (Amanda), and Jay (Ashley) Greeno, Patrick (friend Maggie Briggs) and Brett Wise, Brian (fiancé Racheal Weiland) and Joseph Heiser; 4 great-grandchildren: Ella Rose Greeno, Madison Jane Greeno, and Alizah and Jameson Hayes.

Jane's family would like to thank the dedicated and caring staff at UW Hospital ICU and IMC units as well as the staff at Agrace Hospice Care for their outstanding help and support.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 326 South Segoe Rd, Madison with the Rev. Dr. Charlie Berthoud officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to (1) Covenant Presbyterian Church (2) UW Foundation - Basketball Boosters (3) Friends of Henry Vilas Zoo.
