James B. "Jim" Robertson

James B. "Jim" Robertson, age 84, passed away on March 21,2024.  Jim was born on March 30, 1939, in Madison, WI to Mead and Jean (Burgess) Robertson.  Jim spent his childhood years on the family (Burgess) farm near Brooklyn.  He attended Stoughton High School and graduated from Mauston High School in 1957.   Jim along with his father and mother, operated an LP Gas and appliance business in Evansville before entering the Army in 1961.  Jim served in active duty with the 8th Infantry Division in Germany and later in the Army Reserves in Madison.


Jim was a graduate of Madison Business College in accounting, attended UW Madison, and graduated from UW Whitewater in management.  His employment career was primarily spent in manufacturing quality assurance engineering and management.  Jim also served as the Buildings and Grounds Director at Blessed Sacrament Parish before permanently retiring.


Jim married the love of his life, Jean Pfeifer, on June 25, 1966 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and together they enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Jim was deeply devoted to his family, grandchildren, and friends. Jim also enjoyed many leisure activities such as travel, reading and fishing. Jim and Jean visited all 50 states and several foreign countries throughout their years of travel. Some of Jim's fishing trips included great memories of salmon fishing in Alaska and on the Columbia River in Oregon.


Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jean, and their three children, Julie (Michael) of Kalispell, MT; Daniel (Sheila) of Blanchardville; and Andy (Tanya) of Madison; grandchildren, Fiona, Bennett, Maximillian, and Matthew; a sister, Jane (Richard) Jones of Lodi, a sister-in-law, Sandra of Monona and many beloved nieces and nephews.  


Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Mead and Jean, and his brother Thomas, who sadly passed away two days before Jim.


A visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Madison on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery following the funeral mass.


In lieu of flowers the family ask that you consider a donation to Blessed Sacrament Parish or the American Heart Association in memory of Jim.


The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff members at the VA Hospital for their compassionate care for Jim.
