Jim Plopper passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 peacefully at his home at Capitol Lakes in Madison. Jim was born on October 20, 1925 in Marion, Wisconsin to the late Dola and Charles Plopper. During World War II Jim served his country in the Army in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters. Jim graduated with a Master's degree in Spanish from UW- Madison where he also played drums in the marching band. He was a Spanish instructor at his beloved UW -Madison. Jim was an avid Badger fan all his life.
Jim's sense of humor and fun pranks will be missed by his sisters- Pat McCarthy (Clintonville, Wisconsin) and Ginny Zimmerman (Tucson, Arizona) , his niece and nephews- Ann McCarthy, Dave McCarthy, Chuck Engebretson, as well as great nieces and nephews Katie, Alli, Kristin, Brad and Brian. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jack, his nephew, Mark and his great nephew Matt.
Jim's family extends their loving thanks to everyone at Capitol Lakes in Madison who were truly a second family. The love they showed Jim through the years was amazing.
Badger fans everywhere have lost one of their best supporters. I am sure Gabriel was playing 'On Wisconsin' Monday night.
Pastor Keith Wolf will officiate at a graveside service with military honors at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville, Wisconsin on Saturday, April 11 at noon.
