James Novy

April 16, 1946 — March 31, 2018

Our beloved father, family member and dear friend, James Michael Novy, age 71, died peacefully on March 31, 2018 after a brief illness, surrounded by his cherished family members. James was born on April 16, 1946, along with his much loved twin, Janice to Martha and Albin Novy in Madison, WI at St. Mary's Hospital. His twin sister, Janice and Jim were inseparable, they schemed in many antics and his friends, were her friends and vice versa.

At the age of 18, Jim left home and honorably and proudly served our country in the US Army (Company D 5th Battalion 3D Regiment) from March 1964 through March 1970. During this period he served two years in the Vietnam War. We all deeply thank him for our freedom and his service.

James was married to his true love, Mary Otis on February 25, 1967 and had four children, they were married for 22 years. James was married to Linda Connell Novy and they were married for a total of 20 years.

Jim was an esteemed employee at Webcrafters for 43 years and retired in August 2009. During his time at Webcrafters he established many friendships and made the printing process more efficient through his creative abilities.

Jim had an impressive collection of music and loved all kinds, music was a huge part of his life. He also loved to entertain and share his love for music throughout his life and gathered his family and friends together for cookouts and pool time!

After retirement, Jim's real adventures began. He enjoyed his travels to see his son, Brian and his husband Miguel in Miami on many occasions. He looked forward to his annual trip to see his older brother, Wayne in Hayward and Bayfield to the Apple Fest. He also traveled with his friend Herb to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park in Angel Fire, New Mexico where he had place a memorial brick in his name. He very much enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
James loved the Packers and the Badgers and had many stories to share on his adventures with his dear friends, Kelly, Kay and Tonya. He gave 100% on all his home projects and was pleased and happy to add the porch at The Keg tavern located in Token Creek, where he formed many dear friendships and was much loved. He was also busy at The Paddle Inn, also located in Token Creek where he loved to help out with whatever they needed.

Jim is survived by his three devoted sons, David Novy, Chad Novy and Brian Novy (Miguel) and his dear daughter Denise Novy Geiger and his two cherished grandchildren, Kylie and Lexan. His loving twin sister, Janice (Kenneth) Aberle, his adored older brother, Wayne (Donna) Novy, nieces, nephews, cousins and many endeared friends. He was preceded into death by his parents, his esteemed sister, Arlene Werner, and his toddler sister, Darlene, who had passed before the twins were born and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

"Jimmers" worked hard and played hard and lived his life the fullest! Everyone comments on how he would give the "shirt off his back" and was always there to help whomever needed assistance, emotionally, as a dear friend and family member or assistance on a project.

He was a "rare" gem in this world, a beacon of light, laughter and much love to give and receive. His heart was always open and welcomed to whoever entered his life. He was loved immensely, will be sorely missed.

Dearest dad, uncle, friend you will never be forgotten and will be "Forever Young" in all our hearts. As is stated from his niece (Kim Krizan-Huber) "As my Bohemian Gypsy Uncle commented on a post of mine, I commented "A Gypsy's Road ...Sometimes is never long enough"....I wasn't surprised that he was the first to comment.. he got it, I knew he would. Rest in Peace? No, not for you James, ...you still are rocking it and that, we know that for certain. Love you with all our hearts."
