James "Jim" Moe Sundby

Stoughton - James (Jim) Moe Sundby, age 92, of Stoughton passed away at Kettle Park Senior Living facility on February 4, 2026.

He was born on February 13, 1933, in Stoughton, Wisconsin, son of the late Christian and Clara (nee Moe) Sundby.

Jim graduated from Stoughton High School in 1951 and earned a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1956. On June 23, 1956, he married Erma Staff at West Koshkonong Lutheran Church in Stoughton. Jim worked, as a pharmacist at the Stoughton Hospital and Group Health Cooperative.

Jim was a member of First Lutheran Church. He was an avid fisherman, passing his knowledge along to his 3 sons. He also spent family time at their cabin in Hayward, Wisconsin, with plenty of fishing and boating. Jim and Erma enjoyed traveling including trips to Alaska and Norway.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Erma Sundby, son Brian (special friend Shelly Fischer), Randy (special friend Heather Hansen), and Scott. He is further survived by his granddaughters Emily (special friend Jack), and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by his brother Frederick and Mary Sundby of Stoughton, brother-in-law, Loren Staff, plus other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by: his parents, Christian and Clara Sundby, father- and mother-in-law Obert and Hazel Staff, and sister-in-law Maryann Staff.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 310 East Washington Street, Stoughton with Rev. Sara Ehrets presiding. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the service at the church on Saturday.
