Stoughton- James Paul Hoffman died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday June 29th in Stoughton, Wisconsin at the age of 74.
Jim was born on March 18, 1942 in Madison, Wisconsin to Clarence and Arlene (Farnsworth) Hoffman. He graduated from Stoughton High School in 1960 and soon after joined the Navy Reserves. Jim went into active duty from 1965 to 1967 as he served two tours to Vietnam on the USS Jenkins DD447. He married Judith Ann Lund on August, 3 1968. Jim worked for the State of Wisconsin as a State Patrol Motor Vehicle Inspector and later as a Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures Inspector. He was a skilled left-handed bowler who coached junior bowling. After retirement he enjoyed collecting and selling antique tools along with many other collectibles.
Jim is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Jill (Joe) Koshollek and Jenny Hoffman; grandchildren, Emily, Zak, and Sam Koshollek; sister, Nancy (Chub) Viney; brother in-law, Mike Gerard; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Arlene Hoffman; brother, Howard Hoffman; and sister, Sheila Gerard.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church in Stoughton, WI. Burial, with full Military honors, will follow in Lutheran Cemetery South. Friends may greet the family from 1:00 PM until the time of service Saturday at church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Agrace Hospice Care.
The family is grateful for all the support and dedication of the Agrace staff who helped to make Jim's last days comfortable and peaceful in his own home.
