James Patrick Halloran, 71, of Madison, WI passed away on September 28, 2026. He was born in Morris, IL on July 23, 1955 to Zita and John Halloran. Jim married Peggy Sharp in Morris on March 13, 1993. He was a graduate of Morris High School and Western Illinois University. He began his career as a school teacher in Chicago and Morris, and later had a long career in Human Resources which brought him to Madison in 2005.
An avid reader, Jim loved history, Irish music, jazz and sports. He was a passionate fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Notre Dame and any team his son Jack played on.
Jim was a joyful person who shared his wonderful sense of humor with everyone he met. His Irish "gift of gab" meant no one was a stranger. Most of all, he loved being Jack’s father. It was his most important role. He cherished time spent with friends and family, especially the many Hanley and Halloran cousins and his godchildren.
He is survived by his wife Peggy and son Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zita Hanley Halloran and John Halloran.
Jim will be forever in our hearts.
A funeral mass is set for Friday, Oct. 9 at 11 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, WI. Visitation will take place before the mass at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish and School.
