James E. Cayo Jr.

McFarland- James E. Cayo Jr., age 73, passed peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 13, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Milwaukee on July 28, 1949, the son of James Sr. and Mary Cayo. Jim graduated from Boys Tech of Milwaukee in 1967. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country honorably. On September 8, 1969 Jim started his 36 year career with AT&T. On May 12, 1973 he married the love of his life, Nada Goreta. Jim loved to cook, professionally for a brief time, but most of all for his family. He loved the Milwaukee Zoo, swinging on their deck overlooking the marsh and was an avid sports enthusiast. Jim had a love for history, he was a walking encyclopedia and Google before Google was invented. He will be missed and is lovingly survived by his wife of 50 years, Nada; daughter, Tanya (Trevor) Kravick; son, James (Jamie) Cayo III; seven grandchildren, Sebastian, Tirzah, Shylah, Tanner, Julia, Jimmy and Jennifer; siblings, Jerry (Chris), Judy (Dave) Hagberg, John, Jay (Sue), and Jeff (Laurie); sister-in-law, Debbie Cayo; in-law siblings, Aranka Goreta, Rosemary (Mitch) Metz, Mascha (Keith) Sopa; beloved friend, Leslie Saeger; many nieces and nephews; and extended relatives. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Tierney Cayo; in-laws, John S. and Wilma Goreta; and brother-in-law, John A. Goreta.

A casual memorial service to celebrate the life of Jim Cayo Jr. will take place on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Lewis Park, 5012 Highland Drive, McFarland. We will begin receiving family and friends at 3:00 PM. A memorial service will begin at 4:30 PM with a light dinner reception following until 7:30 PM.
