Isabel Fraust

March 21, 1921 — July 30, 2016

Isabel Theresa Fraust was born on March 21, 1921 in Sun Prairie, WI to her parents Anna and Asa Illgen. She grew up in the Sun Prairie area and was one of nine siblings; Olin (Yvonne), Norris (Agnes), Virginia (Adelbert) Schmitz, Arnold (Edna), Lucille (Ted) Knapton, Donald (Roberta "Bobbie"), Roy (Della), and Wayne (Liz). She attended school in Sun Prairie. There was never a dull moment growing up with all of her brothers and sisters. Isabel can recall her brothers catching mice and trying to put them down the girl's clothing, developing a fear of mice that stays with her to this day. Her family loved doing anything and everything outdoors, especially fishing. They also enjoyed playing cards and dancing.

Isabel worked at Madison Kipp and Oscar Meyer in her early years prior to getting married. She met her husband Edison Fraust in 1944 at a dance and they were married 2 years later. They started their life as newlyweds in Madison living in a 4 unit apartment building they owned. Edison was a real estate broker and also a cook at Cleveland's lunch for 20 years. They later built a house at Orchard Ridge in 1958 where they raised their 2 daughters Mary and Nancy. They owned 2 cottages on Lake Mendota in the 1950's where they loved to vacation and spent a lot of time swimming, fishing and boating with family and friends.

Isabel's husband passed away in 1974 and Isabel began working at American TV until she retired in 1978 and moved to her lake house. She later met Walter Jorgenson at the VFW in Sun Prairie and they moved to Mesa Arizona in 1991 and were married in 2001. Walter passed away in 2003. Isabel moved back to Wisconsin in 2010 where she lived with 2 of her brothers Wayne and Don before coming to Ingleside in 2013.

Isabel's greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, love for dogs, fishing, Bingo, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Simmers and Nancy (Mark) Klawitter; grandchildren, Tanya Wiatrak, Jennifer Roughen, Samantha Poast, and Brittany Simmers; great-grandchildren, Emily, Ian, Koby, Haley, Dezirae, Heidi and Eli. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers and sisters.

The family wants to thank Ingleside Manor for all their care they have given her over the last almost three years and mostly the nurse Amber who was awesome the last couple of days and nurse Mary for joining the family with an awesome prayer at her bedside as she took her last breaths.

Isabel passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Ingleside Nursing Home in Mt. Horeb, at the age of 95. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
