MADISON-Irvin M. Youngerman, 83, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012 in TLC South at UW-Hospital in Madison. Irvin was born November 3, 1929 in South Bend, Indiana. After completing undergraduate and graduate school in Indiana he initially worked for the Army and then spent most of his career as a financial analyst at General Services Administration, a branch of the federal government, in downtown Chicago for many years. He married Marion Sarko on August 31, 1963 in Chicago and lived there for six years. They subsequently moved to Evanston, Illinois and lived there for many years before he retired and they moved to Madison, Wisconsin in 1988. Irvin volunteered many hours at the Overture Center, the Madison Children's Museum, and the State Historical Society. He had a passion for traveling and he and Marion traveled to many European cities, including Paris, London, and Vienna. They also enjoyed their cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, and Eastern Canada. Irv loved to play bridge and cribbage, attend the large variety of cultural and educational events that Madison has to offer, and enjoyed good food; especially deserts. He kept his mind active by auditing many classes at UW-Madison. He was an avid conversationalist but he was the quintessential listener and always remembered important events in his friends' lives.
Irvin is survived by his daughter, Denise Youngerman; son-in-law, Scott Deyo; step-grandson, Dr. Christopher (Dr. Abigail) Deyo; step-great-grandchildren; Michael and Claire Deyo; sister-in-laws Catherine Zitz, Cecile (Tom) Wilbourne, and Charlotte Walton; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Ellen Youngerman; and his beloved wife, Marion Youngerman.
