Irene Marotz

Madison/Mt. Horeb - Irene E. Marotz, age 95 passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Ingleside Manor in Mt. Horeb. She was born on November 12, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Florence (Miller) Jahnke. Irene graduated from Green Lake High School and then went on to attend one year at Ripon College. On July 4, 1941, Irene was united in marriage to Martin Marotz in Green Lake, Wisconsin. They worked and resided in Ripon until 1953, when they moved to Madison. They raised 6 children. She was a faithful member of Eastside Evangelical Lutheran Church. Irene enjoyed music and most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them.
Irene is survived by her children; David Marotz of Homer, NE, Rosemary (Tom) Brunner of Verona, Larry (Pat) Marotz of Fitchburg, Joan Marotz of Madison and William (Janet) Marotz of West Bend, five grandchildren; Mark (Vicki) Brunner, Paul (Jodi) Brunner, Jon Brunner, Joe Marotz and Matthew Marotz and eight great grandchildren; James, Michael, Heidi, Zachary, Tony, Angel, Lillian and Madalynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Martin in 2003, daughter Cheryl Marotz, two brothers; Richard Jahnke and Norbert Jahnke and two sisters; Myrtle Kurth and Ruth Schultz.
Funeral services will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 10:00 am with Reverend Glen Schmiege officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of services. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
