Irene Keller

Irene M. Keller, age 96, of Waunakee passed away on Wed. May 21, 2025. The former Irene Marx was born 0n April 11,1929 to John and Mary (Statz) Marx. She married Roman Keller on June 13,1950 and they were married 53 years. Together they raised eight children on their farm. Mom had a love for gardening and spent many hours nurturing her plants. Sewing was her specialty, and she loved making things for her family members, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and Farkle with anyone who would take her on. She was a devout Catholic watching Mass daily on TV. She also enjoyed watching the game show network and Wisconsin sports. Family and friends were important to her, and she thoroughly enjoyed visits from her nieces and nephews in her later years.

Survivors include her eight children: Roger, Gary (Diane), Al (Nancy), Debbie (Ray) Michels, Connie (Ken) Acker, Joyce (Steve) Reid, Jim (Linda), and Kevin; 18 grandchildren Michael (Kelly) Keller, Amanda (Brad) Haag, Jenna (Brandon) Ripp, Melissa Keller, Julie Keller, Theresa Keller, Angela (Jeff) Slaney, Sara (Dan) Rutten, Clint (Chrissy) Acker, Melanie (Joel) Knetter, Katie (JC) Acker, Randy Reid, Samantha Reid, Kyle Keller, Austin (Lexi) Keller, Breanna (Nick) Zech, Brittany (Josh) Schell and Danielle (Erin) Keller; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Roman in 2004, infant daughter Shirley; siblings Rosie (Ray) Acker, John (Jeanette) Marx, Laura (Math) Theis, George (Betty) Marx and Loretta (James) Zander; In-laws Mary Ellen (Daniel) Nolden and Loretta (Dean) Goldbeck.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at St John’s Catholic Church 209 South St Waunakee. Friends may call at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home 5785 Hwy Q Waunakee on Wednesday, May 28 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. A reception will follow at the Springfield Inn.
