Irene Bronte

Stoughton- Irene O. Bronte, age 81, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 14, 2016. She was born in Stoughton on March 15, 1935, the daughter of Wilbur and Olga (Johnson) Straavaldson. Irene graduated from Stoughton High School in 1953. On June 26, 1954 she married Eldon Bronte. Together they shared 53 years of marriage until his death in 2007. Irene worked for the Stoughton Hospital for 10 years and for WI Department of Employee Trust Funds for 20 years until her retirement in 1998. She enjoyed knitting, especially hats and scarves that she donated to various schools. Irene loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She liked to travel and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers. Irene is survived by her four daughters, Barb (Randy Ehle) Bronte, Lynn (Troy) Wieser, Lori (Fred Overbay) Hagen, and Betty (Steve) Linnerud; seven grandchildren, Heather (Paul) Blatterman-Carow, Matthew Johnson, Melissa (Nick) Haak, Sara (Brian) Stensaas, Jon (Katie) Hagen, Kyle Hagen, and Shelby (Joey) Hoops; five step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Elaine (John) Schollmeyer, Shirley Ehle, Ruth (Jack) Langmeier, and Mary Gjermo; brother, Bill (LaVae) Straavaldson; and sisters-in-law, Helen Straavaldson and Eunice Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Bob. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at West Koshkonong Lutheran Church. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following, in the church fellowship hall. Friends may greet the family from 1:00 PM until the time of service Sunday at church. Private burial will take place in West Koshkonong Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Koshkonong Lutheran Church.
