Ionia Erickson

Stoughton - Ionia G. Erickson, 92, of Stoughton, died early Tuesday, November 24 at Memory Care, Kindred Hearts in Cottage Grove, where she been a resident for four months.

Mrs. Erickson was born in Rockford, Illinois on February 2, 1923, the daughter of Maurice and Elsie (Batten) Petty. When Ionia was six weeks old, her father was killed in a construction accident and the family moved to Stoughton. She was predeceased by brothers - Maurice, William, Benjamin and a sister Mary Jane. She was married on February 6, 1943 to Arnold R. Erickson. They lived in Madison until 1953 when they moved to Davenport, Iowa. When he retired in 1985, the family returned to Wisconsin and settled in Stoughton. She enjoyed decorating her home, making doll clothes, and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by three children - Charlotte Wyatt, Steven (Bonnie) and Bryan, four grandchildren - Todd Baker, Jennifer Baker Howard, Chip Erickson and Matthew Erickson, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to visitation at 10 am. on Saturday, November 28 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 West Prospect St., followed by funeral service at 11 am.
