Hugo Saarnio

On Monday, May 13, 2013, Hugo Verner Saarnio, age 93, died peacefully with family at his side. Hugo was a resident of Ironwood, Michigan and a snowbird of Waunakee, Wisconsin. Hugo enjoyed entertaining his Waunakee snowmobile friends and family at Hugo's Basement Bar. He enjoyed good conversation and a good cocktail. Hugo was an avid Packer fan, even while living in a home of Bear fans. He will be remembered for his caring nature and love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Hugo was preceded in death by his wife, Aino Saarnio. He is survived by his four children, Andrew (Jean Ann) Saarnio of West Chicago, Illionis, Christine (Dennis) Zeimet of Alabaster, Alabama, Rita (Paul) Volley of Waunakee, Wisconsin, and Leo (Joan) Saarnio also of Waunakee, Wisconsin and his special "Buddy" Steve Borstad of Waunakee, Wisconsin. Hugo was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

A memorial service with family will be held in Ironwood, Michigan at a later date.
