Howard Solberg

Madison - Howard D. Solberg, age 92, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Oakwood Village. He was born on Nov. 29, 1922 in the Township of Springdale, the son of Ole and Ida (Bestor) Solberg.

Howard served 35 years of Federal Service, of which 20 with the Navy and 15 with the Veterans Administration. He was very proud of his service to the Country. He enjoyed reading historical military books on WWI and WWII and shared many past military naval experiences with family, friends and caregivers.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife Edna Solberg; his parents Ole and Ida Solberg; 4 brothers, Carl, Russell, Delmar and Clifford; 2 sisters, Laura and Helen, also by a special step-daughter Rita Briggs. He is survived by Arlene Curtis of Baraboo, Robert (Christine) Briggs of Arlington TN, Alan (Char) Briggs of Mundelein IL, Spencer (Judy) Briggs of Kilmichael MS, Edith (Ron) LaForge of Grantsburg WI, Bonnie (Bill) Briggs-Whalen of Madison; many nieces and nephews; and numerous grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Oakwood Village, University Woods at Resurrection Chapel, 6201 Mineral Point Rd in Madison at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015.
